Absentee Landlords

  • Provide resources to law department to crack down on absentee landlords 

  • Create new administrative procedure to fine/punish absentee landlords who negligently maintain property

  • Offer training for local nonprofits to take advantage of Ohio’s receivership law to renovate public nuisance properties and put them back into productive use 

  • Fully fund the HRC’s housing discrimination division and preferred property program 

  • Require real estate investors to register their rental properties for a fee, or pay a fine

  • Work with Montgomery County, ABLE, and other partners to create “Right to Counsel” in eviction proceedings  

  • Hire more code enforcement staff
